Class Descriptions
One Puppy To Go! [Agility!]
Limited to puppies up to one year old.
What? Puppies can't do agility? Yes, your puppy CAN do agility if the equipment and the environment is right. Our "One Puppy To Go! Agility!" class is held in our riding arena which has sand-based footing. We have all nylon equipment with Velcro straps, nothing hard that would bump your puppy or frighten them. After years of having puppy socials here and letting our student pups play with our agility equipment in the arena and seeing how much fun they have, we thought, "Why not offer an agility class for puppies?" This is NOT about competition agility. It's about something fun to do with your puppy, building confidence and a better relationship with your dog. It's something the whole family can be a part of.
By week 5 your puppy will be going through tunnels, leaping tall buildings in a single bound! Well, okay, slight exaggeration there. How about jumping through hoops and weaving through weave poles, all very low to the ground and safe!
Prerequisite: Kids age 13 to 15 must have prior approval of the instructor and be able to handle their dog.

K-911 [Help for Kids and Dogs]
Calling all kids! (ages 7 to 13)
Do you have a dog of your own? Are you planning to get one? Do you just love to be around dogs? Then this class is for you! It’s a just-for-kids class that teaches you about dogs by playing games, learning tricks and having fun. Bring your dog or, if you don’t have one yet, practice with one of ours!
Learn the secret language of dogs!
Did you know that dogs have a language all their own? It's true! Learn how to speak "dog" and help your dog learn how to speak "human". Our dogs talk to us all the time. With a little help, you can begin to understand what they are saying, and teach them to understand you a little better. You'll amaze your friends and family with how well you and your dog communicate!
Learn fun games to play with your dog!
Dogs love to play. But not all games are good for your dog. Some teach bad habits or could get you hurt. We'll teach you games that are great for both you and your dog. You'll learn fun ways to keep your dog busy, neat things you and your dog can do together, and maybe even a thing or two for your dog to do while you get your homework done!
Teach your old dog a new trick!
Many people think some dogs are too old to learn. But that's just not true! Whether your dog is a brand new puppy or a seasoned grandpa, we'll show you how to teach him a trick or two.
Show your parents that you are responsible!
Learn how to handle and care for your dog. Learn the right way to approach strange dogs, how to protect your dog from scary situations, and how to keep yourself safe around dogs. Having the parents put the kids in control for an hour of power with their puppy is sometimes the best lesson for child. Kids without dogs will still be allowed to handle a dog. Yes, we have spare dogs! But no, you can't keep them. You can borrow them during class.
K-911 For kids and dogs come join the fun! No big people allowed, how fun is that!
Please note: The tuition for this class is per child. Tuition for additional handlers (siblings) is $100. Students must be able to safely handle their dog. Certain types of training collars will be recommended as appropriate.
Puppy must be vet checked for wellness prior to class and have a clear fecal to participate in class activities. We encourage you to come with or without your puppy and get the canine educational experience that will help you at home with your puppy.

Pet Therapy, Seattle Style! Class
PLEASE NOTE: Tuition applies to each person attending. That is, one tuition, one person may attend. If you have a second handler for the same (registered) dog, the additional handler fee is $100.
This class will prepare you for the Reading with Rover test and/or Delta Society Pet Partner evaluation. After passing your test and/or evaluation you will be on your way to volunteering in schools, libraries, nursing homes, hospitals and other venues.
Prerequisite: A good "Rover" candidate is nothing more than a friendly well-mannered dog that remains calm when greeting both people and animals. If your dog is at that stage or even close, they are a good candidate for this class.
Class size is limited depending on class location. Dogs under 9 months must have prior approval from the instructor(s).
Prior to enrolling in this class your dog must have good basic obedience skills and be able to perform these skills in a room that is new to them. These basic skills include "sit", "down", and a "three-second stay" on leash. Dogs must NOT display aggression toward people or other dogs. You are expected to maintain control of your dog at all times. Most dogs come into pet therapy class having experienced at least two obedience classes but that is not a requirement. If you're not sure if your dog is ready for therapy work, or your dog is less than 9 months of age, please email us so we can discuss it further.
We will evaluate you and your dog and identify where to focus your time so you can practice during the weeks to come. If your dog pulls on the leash, we will give you pointers in class to help with the problem. Following this class, you will be well prepared for either test. The in-class sessions are not "real" evaluations - they're only practice. Information about scheduling your therapy test will be given in class.
Your dog must have lived with you for 6 months and must be at least one year old to take the Reading with Rover D.R.E.A.M. team test and/or the Delta Society Pet Partner therapy evaluation. However this is not a requirement to attend class. If your dog is on a raw diet please contact the instructor prior to registering.
Please check the location of this class as we offer this class at the following locations:
Cascade Kennels, (20005 178th Ave NE, Woodinville)
Crystal Creek Farms, (8902 222nd St SE, Woodinville)
Canterbury Farm (9906 Elliott Rd, Snohomish)
Private Therapy Classes - We also offer private therapy classes for individuals or small groups interested in preparing for the therapy test/evaluation. Please email annemarie@mypuppynanny.com for details and special arrangements.

Pet Therapy Seminar
PLEASE NOTE: Tuition applies to each person attending. That is, one tuition, one person may attend. If you have a second handler for the same (registered) dog, the additional handler fee is $100.
This seminar will prepare you for the Reading with Rover test and/or Delta Society Pet Partner evaluation. After passing your test and/or evaluation you will be on your way to volunteering in schools, libraries, nursing homes, hospitals and other venues.
This seminar is basically a 2 week therapy class practicum in a one-day seminar. It’s great for people that feel ready for pet therapy but may not have the time to commit to a 2 or 4 week class. If you have a young dog and you have a future goal of Pet Therapy you might want to audit this class (see below) to help you prepare for the future of pet therapy. You will learn what is expected of you and your dog, what is on the test and real life problem-solving for therapy dog teams.
We encourage you to bring your dog that you will be testing with as long as s/he does not mind lying on a rug and can be a good listener. We will be practicing elements of the therapy dog test throughout the seminar. You and your dog’s skills will be evaluated and training advice will be offered to help fine tune your partnership with your dog. We will identify your weaknesses so you will know where you need to practice prior to taking your test.
This is not mandatory but you may want to purchase the home study bookthat Delta Society sells (Pet Partners Team Training Student Manual) PRIOR to the seminar from Delta’s website at www.deltasociety.org. If there is more than one person attending with you, you may share the book. You do not need the book to take the therapy seminar but you will need the book prior to taking the Delta Society Pet Partner test. The registration packet for Delta Society is in the book. If you plan to take the Reading with Rover D.R.E.A.M. test, the link to an online manual will be emailed to you. The manual is in PDF format and there is no charge.
The seminar does not include your therapy dog test. If taking the Delta Test you may go to their website and test with any Delta Evaluator on their list that is in your area. Puppy Manners will be offering testing as well and you will receive notices regarding testing after you complete your seminar.
This seminar does not guarantee you will pass your therapy test or that your dog is appropriate for pet therapy, but you will feel more confident and secure about you and your dog’s skills. Most teams do take and pass their test the first time within a month of completing their seminar.
We have great ideas to share with you in the seminar, from reading dog programs to volunteering with special needs children and in hospitals.

Pet Therapy AUDIT (no dog)
PLEASE NOTE: Tuition applies to each person attending. That is, one tuition, one person may attend.
This is the same seminar as described above but this option is for people who do not wish to bring their dog or when the seminar has the maximum number of handlers and dogs already signed up. You can still attend, take notes, and receive the materials and instruction just without your dog.
For a full description of this seminar, please see the Pet Therapy Seminar description above.
